SFU1204 or 1605

Post by dahille »

Hi guys, first of all a Happy New Year in the round.
I am just putting together the parts for my HevORT and it is somehow very difficult for me.
I have the aluminum profile rails and all the screws and angles for the frame together.

Then I came to the ball screws with nuts and searched for them on Ebay and Aliexpress and found some.
Now to my question... I would like to take SFU1605 in place of SFU 1204 for the Z axis... why no idea, am of the opinion that here in the forum once stood that these are better than the SFU1204.
The 1605 but have no BF10 but a BF12 end... what I must then continue to pay attention, or does it matter?

Sorry for the maybe stupid question, but I'm not so technically versed in this direction!

Greetings
Sascha

SFU1604.

The quality is impressive for a ridiculously low price.
I don't think you'll find any better.
It comes very well packaged.

I've been looking for a while and this is the best we can do, especially for such a ridiculously low price!

Is there any relevant difference between the SFU1604 and the SFU1605? I'm planning on building something with a 350x350x400 build volume. I see the advantage of moving to the larger diameter 16 ballscrew. From what I can see, the "nominal lead" differs between the two as does the ball bearing size. It's not clear to me how that might impact the Z-axis. Is there any advantage of one over the other?

I ask because I'm able to find suitable sets that include the ballscrew and the bearing mounts, but only for the 1605s.

Thanks!

1605 effects the z layer steps. I think 5 gives you non sensible layer height steps, unless you gear it to suit iirc.

It's due to the pitch of the thread...

Just went through this with my Dad's CNC router. He ordered 1204 for the Z but received 1605. At 1/16 microstepping its 800 steps/mm for the 1204 and 640 steps/mm for the 1605. Not a big deal for a CNC wood router but significant for 3D printing.

May I ask how long it took to receive it? I guess it is all a matter of speculation at this point due to shipping issues and COVID.
