Differences in Rod Ends

Post by guitartoys »

Hi,

In looking at the CAD file, it appears to have about 7mm gap between the Bed Arm Bracket and Actuator Arm Assembly. To give the Rod End ample space to move around.

However, I've now ordered two different sets of rod ends. One from McMaster Carr and the other a cheapy from Amazon.

With the McMaster Carr version the shoulder on the rod end is very close to the ball, and as a result, the two parts almost touch.

With the cheapy set from Amazon, there's only about a 2mm gap.

Has anyone else encountered this? Am I worrying over nothing?

I'd hate to stack a bunch of washers, but it seems like this is going to limit the ranger of motion for the bed. Make a 3-D printed part?

Ideas?

Thanks.

Michael

I had that problem and solved it with 10mm steel spacer.

Thanks. I did the same. I just wanted to see if anyone else had encountered the same thing.
