Glenn's HevORT, size TBC HD9 build!!

Post by glenneaux »

So I've decided to jump in and build my own HevORT!!

While I'm still undecided on the size, but have decided to build a HD9 setup for no particular reason. I intend to stay with steppers.

So far I've began by printing the Z axis components, initially in PLA but will be building this machine to be more suitable for printing in some more exotic materials ie Nylon so will likely reprint some or all of the machine in the future.

There was 2 parts since completed for the bed.

I've started printing the HD9 components, setup cctv camera for no reason.. actually helps me monitor it!

Control wise I've ordered a BTT Octopus with TMC2209 drivers, we'll see how it looks if/when it turns up.

Plan to run klipper, perhaps with octoprint if there's no reason not to, but babysteps for now.

Congratulations! You have started on a fun journey with a lot of decisions to make along the way. I highly recommend either Jhonno or Beano build threads, they have been the most active builds and give great progress updates, there is a lot of helpful information.

Good luck and keep us posted.

He, great to see your progress, Glenn, and yes, HD9 a bloody awesome choice! Probably the best option, if staying with steppers, tbh. Looking forward to more! Glad you made it over from the Dark Side :)

I've finished the HD9 components with the exception of the NEMA17 adapters.

Still some some supports to remove and clean up but they're there.

I thought the plate that covers the drive pulley on the motor mounts wasn't going to fit, I had to give it a slight file on the corners and chamfered it slightly where it fits inside the recess in the motor mount, after that it popped right in with a satisfying click.

Hi Glenn,

i plan to build a 365x365x490 HD9 powered with an BTT octopus v1.1.

What are your experiences with the octopus? Any advices for a bloody noob?
