Length of carbon fiber tube?

Post by rootboy »

Hi guys,

I'm building a 565mm x 565mm x 590mm and I plan on using a carbon fiber tube. What length do I need for the 20mm x 20mm tube? I'm doing the XYHD12 build.

It looks like it needs to be the length of the rail plus the depth of the pockets in the plastic parts. I'm sure that it will become apparent as I progress, but if someone knows then that would be great.

Thanks,

John

I was told to order long and then cut to length at assembly. And the MGN9 rail should be 25mm longer too.

Thanks for the response, and sorry about the late reply but I just saw this.

That's what I figured as well. And my parts are extra long, so I'm good.

Edit: Don't quote me on this, but the BOM states that for a 315mm x 315mm build, you would cut your rail to 375mm. This is after confirming and/or adjusting that the rail meets the Hiwin hole specs.

From the BOM:

Suggested to buy 400mm length rail for 315x315 build.
Rail will need to be cut to length (375mm for a 315x315 build).
It is assumed that the end hole position is as per Hiwin Specs:

Thanks again,

John
