Redesigned Hemera Mount

So I really like the Hemera mount Mirage C made for the Hevort. However their are a few things I wished were a bit different on it. My biggest gripe was the time I got a clog and needed to take the Hemera apart to fix it. To get at the clog I had to either pull the heatsink off the Hemera well it was on the carriage, if you've tried this you know that the Hemera heatsink is on there pretty tightly, or take the entire carriage apart so I could remove the entire Hemera assembly. I also found that the top left screw had come lose between the Hemera and the carriage and trying to get the screw to find the nut without taking the entire assembly apart was a major pain. I also prefer "brass" inserts over pocket nuts. To deal with these issues I've modified the original Hemera mount. I'm still hashing out a few details but below are a few pictures of the functional prototype.



This is the mount without the plate that holds the hemera, as you can see I've mostly removed the pocket nuts from the original.



This is the plate the Hemera motor attaches to. Their are grooves on the main carriage to accommodate the screw's heads. The screw on the lower right is mostly decorative as it would interfere with the belt tensioner.



The mounting plate and the carriage fit together, with the plate's middle insert fitting into the hole in the carriage and the other three fitting over the top of the carriage. When the carriage isn't moving they actually friction fit without the Hemera falling off but are usually held in place by three screws, two going horizontally into the two inserts on either side of the top and a vertical screw going threw the carriage into the middle insert.

I may make some more changes but I'd like to hear some feedback first.

Clever! I Like it! As for removing the Hemera heatsink from the mount I did , a simple prying on the hemera motor while pulling the heatsink cover off always did the trick for me. But I like your solution.

Sorry about the late reply, I swear I had linked my design in Fusion. I added a spot for the toolboard I'm now using. I may do a bit of a redesign as I've found the vertical screw in the center actually holds the Hemera very securely even without the two horizontal screws.
