Re: 600x600x890 HD12 build

Some updates: Ordered the 3030 extrusion from tnutz.com, arrives tomorrow. Printed all of the parts for HD12 and AWD setup. Switching Z axis to belt drive, waiting for the STLs to be released before printing. The 3DXTECH PETG+CF is brittle in filament form, but it prints great (once I dialed the ext...

Re: Length of carbon fiber tube?

I was told to order long and then cut to length at assembly. And the MGN9 rail should be 25mm longer too.

Re: 600x600x890 HD12 build

Looked at the 3030 mod finally, I think it's in 3" and not 30mm?? Thinking I might run a 2040 extrusion for the bed frame to add rigidity.

Re: 600x600x890 HD12 build

Just ordered 4 750g spools of PETG+CF from 3DXTECH to go with the one I already have. Will see if this is enough.

Re: 600x600x890 HD12 build

Updates! Going to use this as the build log...was hoping for it to be something like instructions too, but this is going to be such an oddball build it probably won't work well for that. 1) Prolly the most important, the wife signed off on the project, lol. She doesn't say "no" to my goofy projects ...

Frame BOM

Looking at the frame BOM - there are 104 nuts, 104 screws, and 26 corners. Are the nuts and screws for the corners? What about other nuts to put on stuff down the road? Should I use the nuts that can be slipped in after it's together? There are also things about the blind joints - does this require ...

Re: 600x600x890 HD12 build

I think all of them are worth doing.. PLA isn't great longer term or near any source of heat. Other than printing nice, I just don't see the point of PLA personally (not a dig, just a personal thought on PLA). Yeah, most of what I do is in PETG...I have a lot of uses for that, and a lot of PLA/PLA+...

Re: extra 2020 extrusion in HD version from frame calculator

I'll sort that out when the time comes. As long as I know to not buy it now, I'm good.

Thanks!

See screenshot from Frame and Friends calc:

What's the highlighted part for that says "HD Only"? Is that the crossmember on the gantry? If I wanted to run the carbon fiber crossmember, is that the piece I replace with the carbon fiber?

Thanks!

Re: 600x600x890 HD12 build

Planning on printing most things in Tough PLA right now - I do have a couple of spools of fiberglass filled nylon, are there any parts that will get hot that I should look at printing out of the nylon?
